#1 - August 2007 Part 1 of 3 Cover Gleason attends a crime scene where the victim appears to have been burned to death (see Witchblade #109), as the body is taken away the chalk outline of a winged being becomes visible. In the secret HQ of Cyberforce the team are visited by a flaming, winged entity which possesses Carin/Velocity, however Dominique/Cyblade is able to drive it out and Carin is left unscathed. In New Jersey Jackie and his associates are torturing an Armenian gangster for information when the agents of the Angelus appear. They reveal the Angelus is still seeking a host before fighting with Jackie and destroying the building and those in it. Sara gets called in to look at the crime scene photos and see if she can provide any insight on Jackie to the investigating team. At Rikers Island prison Celestine (see Witchblade #109) is awaiting transfer when she is visited by the Angelus and becomes its new host. The agents are reunited with their leader and they go in search of an ally. Back at Sara’s apartment Sara and Gleason get a visit from Jackie who has some interesting news about Sara’s baby… #2 - September 2007 Part 2 of 3 Cover Dani is flying through New York (see Witchblade #111), making her way to Sara, rapidly followed by the Angelus. Back at Sara’s apartment Jackie reveals he, or rather the Darkness, is the father of Sara’s baby. He explains that the Darkness used his body to impregnate Sara while she was in a coma in hospital. Just as the three of them are working out the next step Dani crashes through the window followed by the Angelus. As Sara and Gleason get out Jackie and Dani hold off the Angelus. On their way out Sara calls Patience for help (see Witchblade #110), and Gleason gets attacked by one of the Angelus’ agents. Sara kills the attacker and then helps Gleason out onto the street as her apartment building blows up. Sara, Jackie and Dani leave for a safe location, leaving Gleason to be taken to hospital. Jackie brings them to a mob safe house underground, and Sara goes into labour as they make their way into the building. They get Sara into bed just before they are joined by Patience (see Witchblade #110 for her story). #3 - November 2007 Part 3 of 3 Cover As Sara’s labour continues the Angelus arrives outside the safe house. One of the warriors enters the room and Jackie deals with him. Jackie and Patience then go out to defend the house while Dani stays with Sara. As the battle rages outside things are not going as planned for Sara. Dani delivers the baby, a girl, but Sara passes out. Dani grabs Sara’s arm and the Witchblade begins to heal her. Outside, the Angelus has Jackie, but then Sara – clad in the Witchblade – walks out of the house holding her baby. She Dani both now have the Witchblade, and fight the Angelus together. The Angelus takes the baby but cannot keep hold of her, and all the agents of the Angelus are destroyed. Sara names the baby Hope, and Jackie decides to leave New York but promises to make himself available when needed. Back in New York Sara and Hope visit a recovering Gleason in hospital, and reflect that everything has now changed. Aftermath - May 2008 Armies of the night Crisis of faith |
