Sara has a tough time in the fight and passes out but when she wakes she finds herself surrounded by former Witchblade wielders. They send her back into the fight with renewed confidence and determination. Gleason then appears and gives Sara the opportunity to land a killer blow. Jake then reappears from within the God. While Sara tends to Gleason Jake takes Gleason’s pistol and then his own life, and the God’s, after telling Sara he always loved her. Sara clings to Gleason and they share their first kiss, after which Sara reveals she’s pregnant! Who’s the Daddy?! #101 - September 2006 Cover At Jake's funeral Sara chats with Siry and then Gleason, who's understandably eager to hear more about Sara's being with child. The next morning Sara visits the Curator to try and learn if the Witchblade itself could have fathered the child, and if other bearers have had children. She doesn't learn much and heads to work, where a blonde girl bumps into her on the steps. Sara's angry with the girl for not apologising but the Witchblade reacts strangely to this. Once inside Sara and Gleason talk, with Sara revealing she's not had sex for about a year and has no idea how she got pregnant. Gleason makes it clear he wants to stick around then Captain Peyroux walks in on them and is not best pleased. She brings some bad news, Ian Nottingham has escaped from Rykers... #102 - January 2007 Cover “The Eternal Dance” Dancer Danielle Baptiste is at a crossroads in her life; she’s graduated from her dance school but is unsure what she wants from the future. In Central Park Sara’s trying to lure Nottingham out of hiding so they can take him in. Realising it’s obvious she has back up he ditches her wire and heads deeper into the park. Nottingham shows himself and tries again to tempt Sara away with him. She knocks him back, only interested in putting back in jail. After a fight she succeeds in cuffing him but she takes a blow to the stomach that causes her to worry about the baby. Sara realises that a baby and the Witchblade aren’t going to mix. #103 - February 2007 Cover “Transference” Danielle wakes from dream about the Witchblade as Sara and Gleason eat breakfast, Sara’s decided to she wants to give up the Witchblade but is ensure how or to who. Later Dani’s walking through New York when she spots the Curator’s shop. As she tries to leave Sara and Gleason come through the door and the Witchblade makes a move for Dani, who recognises it from her dream. Sara explains the nature of the Witchblade and Dani agrees to give it a new home… #104 - April 2007 Cover “New Life” Sarah reviews the loss of the Witchblade, and takes her relationship with Gleason to the next level. Meanwhile Dani gets a visit from her mother, Captain Peyroux! #105 - May 2007 Cover “Divine Intervention” The Magdalena, Patience, is in town and needs Sara’s help chasing down a reliquary that’s amongst a criminal’s possessions in the Police pound. While Gleason distracts the guard, Sara and Patience track down the item but its rightful owner arrives to claim it at the same time. Sara and Patience confront the demon together but without the Witchblade Sara’s out of her depth and has to leave Patience to deal on her own. Later with Gleason Sara confesses she misses the Witchblade, but realises she has to move on. Elsewhere, Dani gets a call which will take her to New Orleans… #106 - June 2007 Cover Raising the Dead part 1 of 2 Dani’s travelled to New Orleans to be wither father who’s undergone surgery after a heart attack, while she dozes by his bedside she has nightmare of mutilated bodies. Back in New York Sara, accompanied by Gleason, goes for her first scan and finds that all is well. Having taken a break from the hospital to see more of the city Dani’s pestered by two guys whom she uses the Witchblade on to teach them a lesson about how to treat ladies. When the guys flee she’s confronted by a Voodoo-type fortune teller who’s able to explain what’s fuelling Dani’s nightmares, and how to make them stop. Dani makes her way to a former plantation where the plantation owner did some terrible things to the slaves who worked there. When she arrives she can’t see anyone on the land or the graveyard next door, she turns her back to answer a call from the hospital and is confronted by a horde of lively corpses… #107 - July 2007 Cover Raising the Dead part 2 of 2 The undead need Dani’s help – the spirit of their murderer, the plantation owner, still haunts the ruined house and for their souls to be free this woman needs to be brought out to the graveyard. Dani and Witchblade drag her out from the house kicking and screaming and the murdered slaves take their revenge. When Dani finally picks up her call from the hospital she learns her Dad has come around and is going to be ok. Whilst speaking to her Dad Dani confesses she’s not keen on the ‘new direction’ her life is taking. Back in New York Captain Peyroux has guessed Sara’s pregnant and that she and Gleason are an item. She won’t discipline them as long as they keep it discreet but wants everything done by the book regarding Sara’s pregnancy. Meanwhile over at Sara’s old precinct someone’s come looking for her – Celestine (see #76/77). #108 - August 2007 Cover One Good Turn part 1 of 2 Dani turns up at Sara office begging her to take the Witchblade back. Sara’s not playing but she’s willing to give Dani the benefit of her experience. On their way out Sara realises she’s left her bag in her office and goes back for it – and Celestine is waiting for her. Celestine fights with Sara and is disappointed not to find the Witchblade, she decides to kill Sara but Dani bursts in… #109 - August 2007 Cover One Good Turn part 2 of 2 Dani and Sara try to get the drop on Celestine but as soon as Sara gets her gun back Celestine takes Dani as a shield and then knocks her unconscious. When Dani comes around she’s in the office on here own but Sara’s parrot send her down into the basement. Celestine’s about to beat Sara to death with a chain when Dani stops her. She then cuts Sara down just before Celestine attacks again but this time Dani and Witchblade have the upper hand, and the Witchblade comes close to killing Celestine before Dani reigns it in. Elsewhere in the city a human form of fiery light invades a girl’s body… Continued in First Born #1.
